A year later.....

Well I have neglected my poor little blog and am so sorry for all the people who enjoyed reading it. I am going to try and start updating it again.

The boys and I moved into a townhome in Hoover in January. They are enjoying their new school and we are enjoying the less complicated life of townhome living.

I will be turning 35 this weekend. Can not believe how much time has gone by and I am already in my mid-thirties. Mom came up to visit and we are going to start the birthday celebration off right with a trip to the Melting Pot tomorrow night. She has never been to fondue and it always is fun in my book. Then on Saturday Jenny is coming without the girls and we are going out to dinner to celebrate my birthday. This should be a fun and exciting weekend :)

Chips and Salsa please....

Before Richard headed off for a week in Kentucky for training - we decided to spend a little time together. So I headed over to his place with the kids and we went over to Old Navy to get some clothes for the boys. Nina watched the boys and then we all headed out to lunch. We enjoyed ourselves very much. It allowed us to have a little time with him before his trip.

March 23rd - Finally a loose tooth for Nicholas

After Cameron and Charlie had both lost 2 teeth so far, Nicholas has felt left out. He has not had even the first sign of a loose tooth. Tonight when he began eating he told me that a certain tooth was hurting. I looked in his mouth and touched his tooth and it was wiggling just a bit. He was so excited!

Today was the first day back from spring break and it was a little difficult to get moving this morning. After finally dragging the boys out of their beds they quickly dressed in their new outfits I had bought them this weekend and headed to school. Our first time to wear shorts to school in 2009.

Well on my front - I had a date on Saturday night. With who you ask? It was Richard. He came over and we cooked dinner (enchiladas) and then watched Twilight. It was very nice for him to be back in the house again and we really enjoyed our time together. He is planning on coming over tomorrow night to watch the new James Bond movie. I know we will have a good time and I am excited to have him back around some.

The Go Goers

For my birthday this year I asked my mother to come and help clean and organize my house. Since the split this has been something that has gotten the best of me. In all honesty this house is probably too big for me to try and keep up by myself but I adore this house and the boys need their space. I plan to work my tail off and keep this house for my boys and myself. So my mom came up this week to start the massive overhaul - and to keep a sick little Cameron.

She worked for 2 days straight and then when I got home from work she admitted that it was going to take her a bit longer than she had thought. What do you expect from a house with three 6 year olds, 3 cats and a puppy. We even had to go buy a new vacuum cleaner.

Well when she left the boys were so proud of their clean playroom and bedroom that they decided to help Mommy and keep it clean. We finished sorting through the toys and then they had to carry them back upstairs since Mommy has a bum shoulder. They started singing "Go Go Goer" over and over. It was so cute and made them work that much harder.

So after a hard day at play I told them they needed to clean their bedroom and playroom before bed so there they went again singing "Go Go Goer". If this is all it takes then I will be singing constantly..

The Flu and the Great Escape

After about a week of Cameron not feeling well and a weekend of him REALLY not feeling well I took him to the pediatrician today and found out he has the FLU. And because he is in my family not only does he have the flu he has Strand A - the resistant strand! Meaning the meds that they usually give you to help get rid of it quicker and stave off the rest of the family will NOT work. Only in the my family. I have 9 days until my rotator cuff surgery I really do not need to get the flu because it would postpone my surgery and I do not think I could wait any longer as the pain has gotten bad. We also worry when Cameron gets sick because of his lung problems - his coughing is bad and the breathing treatments have started - every four hours hoping to keep this from turning into pneumonia. Please keep him in your prayers and that he fights this quickly.

As for the other story - we got home today and Roxie met us at the door. Wondering how she got there since I keep her in my bathroom with a babygate we all head to my room. She had eaten through the babygate and was running free in the house. I am not sure when she got loose and not sure I found all the surprises she has left us but now I have to find another way to keep her in my bathroom (She had already scratched my door with the paint coming off). I know - like I need this little puppy acting out on top of everything else!!

Perfectionism

Being the Mom of a son with Autism you learn about perfectionism at an early age. Part of Cameron's issues consist of him having to do everything perfectly and quickly. This was not as big of an issue when he was not in school - but now that he is in kindergarten he is competing with 23 other kids.

So far I assume he has beat everyone because we have not had any issues and I get notes on his work about being first one done, plus his reading is so far advanced it blows my mind!

So yesterday at lunch when I got a call from Mrs. Beck that Cameron had been melting down numerous times that morning and she could not figure out why - I asked to speak to him. I asked him what was wrong and he just started crying uncontrollably. I decided I needed to go get him.

I picked him up from school and started talking to him - he was supposed to finish the sentence of "I have....." He wanted it to say "I have the best teacher ever and her name is Mrs. Beck". He then had to draw a picture of her face. He said that his drawing did not look like his teacher... so he started crying. Then during his time at the alphabet station he was not able to complete all 3 words and that made him cry. All he could tell me was "I am not as smart as everyone else".

Talk about a mother's broken heart - he tries so hard and I dont want him to struggle with all this for his whole life.

This morning before sending him off to school I sat down and talked about how great he was and that everyone has things in school that they struggle with - even I did as a child. So off he went with another great attitude to school.

February 23rd

Ok so I have seriously not been keeping up with my blog... So many things have changed that the blog got left behind. Last fall something happened that I really never thought could happen to me, I got divorced. After 9 years of marriage - it was done. The boys and I have been slowly adjusting to life without Richard here and most days I still miss him terribly. We have been able to remain friends and continue to raise our boys as loving parents.

Today I went to the ortho doctor for an MRI of my shoulder because I have been having major issues with pain and being able to lift it. Well - after the Xray and MRI we found out that I have growths (calcifications) that have grown on my shoulder bone and actually through use of my shoulder have ripped all the way through my rotator cuff in two places. Also found out that I have an extroverted shoulder - Dr said that is not a big deal who knows why he told me then. They are doing surgery on March 11th. This recovery should be fun being a single mom of three 6 year olds. Luckily I have an awesome Mom who will be there with me during the surgery and recovery.

So with that I ask for prayers! Lots of them!

November 28th

And it's GONE!! Our very first lost tooth. Charlie was the lucky one to have lost the first tooth and he was so excited. It had been a little wiggly for a while but when he got up this morning he proceeded to pull it out. I guess we are not going to have to worry about him leaving them in hanging. Charlie then left his tooth and the tooth fairy graciously left him $5.00 and a gold dollar coin. I guess it will be raining teeth at our house soon??

November 27th

Happy Thanksgiving!! The boys and I were lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving at my family's lake house. We headed down on Wednesday night and spent the night at Jenny's house and then headed over to the lake house on Thanksgiving morning for lunch with the family. It was a nice break to getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city life and spend time on the lake being thankful. I asked each of the boys what they were thankful for this year and here were their answers: Cameron: the Wii and family.... Charlie: the puppy and family.... Nicholas: family.

Of course being the smart lady I am - I did not take any action shots of the adults eating.

November 20th

Today was the boys Thanksgiving day at school. Charlie was instructed to wear his adorable Turkey shirt that he had painted earlier in the month and then once at school he added his Indian headdress. Then Cameron and Nicholas had made Indian outfits. They came home with war paint on their faces and and singing the Indian War Cry....

November 9th

Well October was a pretty busy month and so I was slacking in the blogging and I apologize. It has been crazy with festivals, carnivals and school. So after I brought home little Roxie home Charlie totally feel in love with her and has taken to her so well. They are like best friends. They even nap together. I will be better at keeping up with the blog I promise ;)

October 10th

It's a girl!!! As the mother of three boys and a older child (34 years old ha ha) I go through girl withdrawals on a regular basis.. Also I guess when you go through menopause at age 33 you start having that last desire for a baby so what do I do to fulfill that void.... yep I add another baby. A puppy - Roxie. She is a papillion (pap-ee-on) she will not be very big when she grows up and I hope she will be my little one although Charlie is extremely attached to her. I truly believe he thinks I bought her for him. So we now have 3 dogs, 4 cats and some frogs and a very insane Mommy.

October 5th

Since Richard was able to get a day off work on a weekend, his mother and him decided to take the boys down to Calera to the pumpkin patch. This pumpkin patch is unique in the fact you get to ride a real train out to the pumpkin patch. So off the boys went and I was allowed a day to go shopping alone which happens very rarely. They really had fun with face painting and they were allowed to each pick their own very large pumpkin.

September 26th

I am sure this will not be my last post about casts and boys and my life!! But today was the day I took Cameron to get his cast on his arm. He picked orange since that was Mommy's favorite color (wonder if that has anything to do with Auburn?). When we first got to Children's Hospital I thought it would go like every other appointment we have had there and we would be done within an hour and on our way. That was not so.. we were first called backed to a room with a beautiful aquarium where we were told we were going to have more x-rays. I asked to speak to the doctor about why he was ordering more x-rays when at the emergency room they told us we were not going to have to. Of course they would not let me and only let me talk to the head nurse who let me tell you was not friendly at all. So off we went for more x-rays. They then moved us to another room waiting for a little while. We were then carted off to yet another room with another beautiful aquarium (knowing that aquariums are used to makes patients and parents less stressed in waiting rooms) it was really making me mad. There was no way little fish swimming around water was making me less stressed while I felt like Cameron and I were swimming around little rooms in the ortho clinic. Then you will NOT believe what happened next - a nurse comes in the room and says who is next? I said are you for real? You are going to start a brawl in the waiting room if you start letting the patients and their parents decide who goes when... OMG this had to be one of the most frustrating appointments yet.. And yes I am sure the fact my adrenal gland is shutting down (different post) does not help the situation. It took 4 hours but luckily Cameron only has to wear the cast for 2 weeks. I sure hope that it does not take another 4 hours to take it off.

September 21st

When I asked the boys where they wanted their birthday party this year, Cameron and Charlie both said Pump It Up and Nicholas said bowling. Well when you are a triplet you learn the 2/3 rule early in life and you have to go with the vote that has 2. So I booked a party at Pump It Up. The only available time was 4:45 on Sunday afternoon. This worked out well since Richard could not get off work. We decided to serve pizza, cupcakes and ice cream. So we invited all their friends from preschool and they each got to invite one friend from their current class. Pump It Up has always been a favorite of ours and it extremely fun for the adults and children. That is until some breaks their arm - yep I said breaks their arm. Who could it be other than one of the birthday boys themselves - Cameron. Such a strong boy he did not want to leave the party so he just nursed his arm until the party ended and then he and I ran off to the hospital for x-rays and a splint. Now I guess this is one of those moments that we will always remember that Cameron broke his arm at his 6th birthday party. Oh how I wish I had gone with Nicholas's idead of bowling!
